Perched on the rocky ledge of his hideout, a sudden movement commands his focus. Don't move or you may become his prey. The cougar, also known as a mountain lion or puma, is native to the Americas and can weigh up to 100 kilograms. This particular male, named Cruz, was taken to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum conservation zoo in Tucson as a baby, after it's mother was killed in California. The cougar population is decreasing, so it is a rare opportunity to have the opportunity to paint one from life.
