The National Parks are celebrating the 150th anniversary this year. Canada’s gift to all is free admission; an offer too good to pass up. There are lots of opportunities for everyone to take in the scenery while enjoying both leisurely and challenging fitness activities. With plein air painting adventures on my mind, we’ve planned a few excursions to explore and paint some of the spectacular countryside. We’re looking forward to hiking through meadows, up mountains, and along lake, river and ocean trails. The exciting options for adventure are infinite!
Mother Nature lights each day with a fresh palette of colors, inviting the incredible variety of plants and flowers to show off their radiance. The vision of a tranquil sunlit marsh is as close to perfection as one can get. My favorite spot is the Columbia River Wetlands. The Columbia River meanders through a wide, valley floor between mountain ranges. Views from the hillsides are impressive everywhere you look, especially when the mountains, trees and grasses are mirrored in the water. In springtime, I love to hear the songbirds with unbridled joy in their hearts, celebrating the arrival of spring accompanied by love in the air. New life is all around.
The diversity of our country’s geography is astounding. I yearn to cover my canvas with nature’s offerings, capture her moods and transport her grandeur into my paintings. Join the festivity! Visit one of Canada’s National Parks and fill your heart and soul with the true essence of the magnificent Canadian landscape!
