Cavell Lake
Acrylic on canvas 18" x 24" (45 x 60 cm)
In Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies, the hiking is fantastic and the scenery is always breathtaking. This painting of beautiful Cavell Lake and stunning Mt. Edith Cavell in the background, is sporting the first snows of September. The lake and mountain are named for British Nurse, Edith Louisa Cavell, who while stationed in Belgium during WWI, saved hundreds of lives on both sides of the conflict, but sadly lost her own due to her outstanding heroic efforts. Edith Cavell lives on in the hearts of many and this memorial to her speaks of the difference she made to humanity.
