New Skin
Acrylic on canvas 24" x 36" (60 x 90 cm) Diptych
Native to the Pacific Northwest, the Arbutus, or Madrona tree’s new bark looks like beautiful, soft, suntanned skin. The new bark is revealed as the tree sheds its old bark by peeling it off. The smooth, sensuous, skin like texture varies in color from warm and cool greens when first exposed to sunlight to golden yellows and reddish browns.
