The Way Home
Acrylic on canvas 11" x 14" (28 x 36 cm)
After a recent visit to an abandoned seacoast town, I couldn't help but think about how difficult it must have been, many years ago, for pioneer mariners to make their way back to their villages, homes, and families without the aid of electricity and modern navigation systems. It would have been especially challenging as night fell or fog rolled in, making it hard to find 'The Way Home.' I thought about an old lantern I had in my garden and imagined someone helping to guide their loved ones home.
