August’s Art Adventure took me to the wild, west coast of Vancouver Island. It is the energy in the waves, the constant flow of unstifled air across the wide-open Pacific, and the zen of slowing down to enjoy each moment, that calls to me. Inspiration is key and I am in my painting element.
The full gamut of changing weather embraced us, as one system flowed into another like the constant waves against the seashore. Washed clean by a downpour, bright sun beams returned, and the air wrapped us in warmth and light. Then howling winds hurled themselves at us, taking with them all loose debris and scattering it in all directions. It seemed a reminder that our existence on this planet is fragile. Now all is calm, but more change is on its way. Nature is never static, especially on this rugged coast. I am a conduit for positive energy. My creativity is a direct link to my experiences. The trick is to capture nature’s energy in my paintings so my viewers can experience it too.
Spending extended time outdoors stimulates our imagination and heightens our senses. It is good for our bodies, cleanses our minds, and feeds our souls. When I move closer to nature, it moves closer to me. I become inspired, focused, ready to accept new ideas, and take on new challenges.
