It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. A universal language is characteristic of Art. The language barrier is effectively removed. Good paintings speak volumes without uttering a single word. Understanding others through their art, is to discover our similarities as fellow humans. We also learn that our differences are often minor and based on our relative experiences of the world. At the very least, we can appreciate and learn to respect other perspectives and points of view.
Photography is an essential memory tool for travel. I take lots of photos. Even more valuable is taking the time to ‘see slowly’ and absorb the environment and atmosphere. Drawing and painting on my trips encourages me to do this. When I sketch or paint, I actually see more. Pencil sketching materials, pen and ink, and watercolour journals are compact, clean, light weight, and easy to carry. They allow me to capture the essence of my subjects at a moment in time, and remember the experiences, thoughts and emotions I had. Art Adventures can be as varied as the places we visit! Get to know the world better through art! Cheers! Patricia
