Many of us have been caught off guard, unprepared for the dramatic and ongoing shifts in our daily lives, during this pandemic. It is refreshing to see that so many people are now engaging in creative hobbies and activities that bring them joy and fulfilment. The fun, stimulation and challenges that artistic endeavours bring, also stimulate our bodies to produce hormones that help us thrive. Studies have shown that participating in artistic activities can have long term benefits to brain health such as rejuvenation, improved memory and learning, and relaxation for many.
With my previous routine and schedule no longer useful, I have restructured my time to include interesting opportunities to learn new painting techniques and skills. I have also been able to explore other artistic options and interests. Although I really miss the value of personal contact, I have found an amazing number of wonderful online classes and tutorials available in all fields. How lucky we are to be able to participate in the wealth of information and workshops on offer from experts all over the world, while remaining safe in the comfort of our homes!
While things may not be perfect, we can start where we are – use what we have, and do what we can, to make the most of this most unusual time in our lives. Perhaps it is time to begin a new Art Adventure and connect with others in the greater creative community! Good Health and Happy Painting!
