With an intensely visual mindset, as an artist, I move through each new season eagerly. I am especially in tune with Mother Nature’s changing gifts of colour, texture, light and atmosphere. Painting the landscape, especially out of doors or ‘en plein air’ is invigorating! It helps me focus my thoughts on the present moment and to really see what I am looking at. Painting outdoors requires me to physically feel the elements: the sky, the land, the sea, the wind, and of course the rain storms when they arrive here on the west coast. It is the unpredictability of the elements when painting outdoors that is exhilarating! And yet, when the elements seem too much, my enjoyment of the controlled environment in my studio is equally fantastic. Here, I can visualize and embellish my outdoor experiences. The spectacular warmth of glowing autumn leaves, yellows, oranges and reds, puts me in a mind of sensational late summer sunsets. Everywhere I look I see a painting!
I mix a fresh colour palette and my brush plunges into the luscious paint with gusto to embody the moods of the season on my canvas. I am taking more time to dream; to be in the flow of positive energy I create and share with others. I encourage you to follow your dreams whatever they may be, for there-in lies your creativity, your true happiness, and your eternity.
